Weekend Trip Ideas out of Hong Kong?

I'm looking for some weekend trip ideas out of Hong Kong. Three or two-day weekends. Reasonable airfare is a big plus.

I've found what I consider good fares to Bangkok for $16,000 HKD round-trip. Looking for some other locations since I've just been to Bangkok. Any ideas?

Also, what are good websites for last minute travel?

Thanks in advance!

For a three day weekend you could go to Yangshuo in Guangxi province. I think it is 2300 HKD roundtrip ex. Hong Kong. Beautiful countryside, mountains, rivers, old villages etc.

Cathay Pacific are doing a special - HK$900 to Singapore (flight only). Basically there are many special offers going around at the moment. Singapore/Beijing are 3 hour flights. Shanghai/North Vietnam are 1.5/2 hour flights - so many places, so little time...........

Have you tried the lastminute site? They seem to have plenty of VERY reasonably priced weekend packages that I intend to try out when I get to HK.

i just took a 4 day weekend trip to Chaozhou in Guangdong. it was excellent. stayed at a luxurious spa resort for only 48 rmb per night! it was amazing. huge hot tub facilities with turkish bath and sauna. then they put you in PJs and march you up to the big lounge room where they serve you fruit, tea, and dim sum (all included in the price) and you can get a massage (for extra cost) while you watch the big screen tvs. its so great. and then you can retire to these cozy little quarters with padded walls and "aromatherapy". anyways, chaozhou itself was very charming and friendly, with lots of history and attractive mountains and clear blue skies. although the people tend to stare alot. the food is delicious and there is plenty to do for a long weekend. its only a 5 hour bus ride, up along the guangdong coastline to the east, almost to fujian. if you need any more info, just let me know.

another good weekend destination: Zhaoqing, a place with craggy limestone mountains in guangdong, 1 hour west of guangzhou. kinda like yangshuo but on a smaller scale. charming little city with some history, old city wall, dinghu shan nature reserve nearby

bangkok for 16,000...? are you crazy? you must mean 1600? even thats not so cheap. you can easily get roundtrip for under 1000 at eastrip in shatin new town plaza. thats the cheapest travel agent ive ever come across.

Hello Quest,

Please tell me how to arrange a Chaozhou trip. It was done by a local tour or did you book the spa resort by yourself and travelled by yourself? How much did you pay in total for the trip? Please tell me more as I need to get out of this hectic place very soon.

Could you also perhaps forward me the travel agent in Shatin? Or is its name Easttrip?

Thanks in advance.

If your destination is any part of mainland china, I'd advise you to take the flights to and from ShenZhen airport, instead of Hong Kong. You be charged domestic prices rather than international prices.
