| | Is is better to apply for HK dependant visa whilst in HK? Here's my scenario:
I am HK PR (also holding UK passport), married to UK passport holder living in london (we met when we both worked in hk). We are being relocated back to HK by my husband's company.
- We would like to apply for a dependant visa for my husband so he won't have to apply for a work visa when we get to hk - will immigration be cool for us to do this?
- As my husband is the breadwinner (he will be on HK 1 million per annum) and i don't have a job lined up in hk, will Immigration favour this fact?
I would be EXTREMELY grateful for any concrete answers from you good, knowledgeable, intelligent people to the above questions as I have trawled the other threads but am still confused!!!
Thanks very much in advance for all your help

| | On that salary ... he does not need to be on a dependant visa. Would be a LOT cleaner if he just applied for the work visa independantly... assuming its not a dodgy job. | |

| | | K!A, 1 million HK$ a year isn't that much money. It's not like 1 million pounds. Anyway, HK has millions of millionaires. | |

Which is a fairly irrelevant comment. The issue is, it is well above the threshold for a work visa. People usually opt for the dependant visa route, if and when they cannot meet the published thresholds for employment visas.

| | | i think you guys are not being constructive on this thread by arguing whether 1 million hk is a lot - personally, i don't think its that much as properties are so expensive in hk, but that's my opinion.
please, is there anyone out there who can answer my original questions?
seems silly for my husband to get a work visa when he can get a dependant visa and then get PR in HK!

HK$ 20-22K / month is the standard minimum at the moment for HK work visas.

If you think its silly, then go ahead and apply for the dependant's visa.
Both take an equal amount of time to process... work visas take less time, if they're well presented.
