I have a question I was born in the US and I would like to move to HK and live there permanently. What are some ways I could do that? My parents are born in china and they are naturalized US citizens. I seriously hate living in the US.

1. Marry a Hong Konger who wants to stay in HK 2. Find a job (the sort that will qualify you for a visa and for which you are qualified) Con't think of any other ways

Live in hiding and carry a big stick. Since your parents are born in China, if you can prove it (birth certificate) I think you can get Right of Abode or something. But you'll probably have to renounce your US Citizenship, since China doesn't recognize dual-citizenship (and neither does the US). And then after claiming Chinese citizenship, in some form, you can get a visa for stay in Hong Kong. Those are two areas to learn more about, I think.

Berryplucker- Huh. Figure that. I'm going to have to read up on that one. Thanks for the update. Too bad China still makes you renounce. Even in Hong Kong. Even if I wanted to run for Hong Kong government. I'd have to renounce my Canadian citizenship. A family friend of mine keeps it, despite being born in Hong Kong, so that she can escape anytime. Figure that.

livin' in the USA wha, wha what?? i can hardly believe my ears! can i ask just what it is that you are expecting HK to offer that the US doesn't? [mind you, i've just had similar discussions with people about Australia but that is Australia--and i'm not so sure that my arguments hold water in fact..] coming to HK from China (legally) may not be as easy as all that..aren't there growing restrictions to specifically limit the no. of mainlanders from relocating? there is a certain irony in what you are proposing to do..last time i was in the states even the bums were advertising marriage at a price for those wanting to stay..and that's no joke! it seems like there's no end of paranoia about people wanting to get into the states.. what will your actions do to national self image?! but seriously, this is only half mocking. If you are wanting to stay in HK try to get a job offer in your field of expertise rather than renouncing any citizenship, which sounds like burning a bridge. I hope yuo can keep your options open for the long term. cheers
