| | | Job Interviews Is it a faux pas to dress better than the interviewer here in HK? Aah screw it, i like looking good. The way they questioned me, i had this feeling at the back of mind that they're really asking me 'you do realise you're just applying to be a waiter, don't you?'. A measly waiter job and I had to see a HR cronie, the assistant HR director, the restaurant manager then the F&B manager. The interview took 1 and a half hours, and half of that time was spent waiting for the next interviewer. I should be asking 'you do realise i just want to be a waiter, don't you?'. All in all, I think i did pretty well. Sure is different from Aus where you just walk into whichever restaurant you want to work at and drop off your resume, where upon your tenth try you usually get hired on the spot. So all of them said they have no problems with me but they just have to see the other candidates first. How long should i usually expect to wait to hear a reply? That's not their polite way of fobbing me of is it? surely not! | |

| | Know it All, that's pretty funny. As for your second comment, i'm not sure what you're getting at but if you're insinuating i'm a prettyboy, i'll be forced to bitchslap you. if i do get the job, come on down, and i'll sneeze in your soup. | |

I worked in TST for a while before freelancing, if i remember rightly my interview took less than 10 mins and was hire on the same day.

| | | Don't worry about dressing better than the interviewer. It shows that you're serious about the job, and the honkies like it. When I was going to school here, my professors always praised me for my professionalism whereas the other students were lazy.
Standing out is not a bad thing and if you work hard, people usually notice. That is unless you get shacked hardcore with a backstabbing boss. Hey..it happens. | |
