| Leisure Walks Right so I've done nothing for a couple months except for sit in front of a book or a computer or bum around and it's getting annoying...and making me expand sideways like there's no tomorrow So! I've decided that I'm going to go on leisure walks/simple hikes around hong kong (outside the city) and the islands...nothing too hardcore... i was planning to do this once a weekend or so...just to walk around, take photos, that sort of stuff? Would anyone be interested in joining me? for info's sake, here are a few *suggested* walking routes but we can make our own of course... | If you are looking for hiking with groups, there are quite a few that exist in Hong Kong. The HK Trampers are hardcore, the Hiking Meetup is varied and nice people, and I have not yet been on one with the Saturday Hikers. (you can google each of the above if interested). |

| There are a couple of great little books which you should look for in local bookshops - one with some very gentle and interesting walks, the other with some more serious stuff. ![]() |

If leisure walk, not serious hike, please count me in... Joined the hike meet up, too serious, would like something leisure with fun, walking slow, exploring the natural, dropping by any places for few drinks, then walk again... If this is your role, please PM me |

| Actually, PDLM is spot on. These are the best hiking books for HK. I am a big fan of leisurely hikers guide and can recommend most of the walks in there. |

| i got the leisurely hiker's guide...it's really good but i noticed that it doesn't have some of the more major trails like the wong nai chung gap trail in it? might be in the serious hiker's guide, but honestly, that trail is easy as hell so i can't imagine it being compared to the lantau trail in the other book... some cool walks though |

| a couple of us were thinking about hitting the wong nai chung gap trail in wan chai this coming saturday/sunday. send me a note if you'd like to come along... like i said earlier, this is nothing serious like what some of the hiking groups do here...plan is just to take it slow and easy. the trail is pretty much flat from what i've heard and there are some WWII relics along the way including one of the last batteries used to defend HK against japanese troops (again...i think lol). the Leisurely Hiker's Guide to HK doesnt have any info on it but i'm sure I can pull something up online. let me know if you'd be interested and which day would be better! |
