Looks like flower power did work.

Now lets work on making Hong Kong humane... heard a good pint can perform miracles in this area!

sorry to say I missed it

but I had a good excuse - currently 'studying' in the UK.

Had I been there you probably would have found me there. Its certainly a big achievement over the standard 'don't rock the boat and make waves' mentality and indeed 'lets all shut up and make money' - the true HK spirit

Isnt HongKong making a fundamental mistake,
assuming that a "democratic" governmment equals
economic wellbeing?

If that was the case, India should have been propserous by now?

and, talking of "responsiveness", what odds on Martin Lee /
Emily Lau / Anson Chang being the next CEO appointed by Beijing?
anybody quoting odds?

Any musicians around?

So it sounds like you're a musician...
I've recently re-located to HK and would like to get to know about the music scene and hopefully even join a band. Blues or jazz is my forte and I play alto and baritone sax (although I only have the alto here until my other possessions arrive).
Hope you can help point me in the right direction.

Thanks...

I had already intended to walk, but my determination was increased because of this. I have tons of things to do, holiday or not, but this was more important.

I wish I'd made a banner. Still it was good.

Later on in the evening we went to the Fringe Club to watch William Tang's last show in Hong Kong before he leaves for the UK. Blues. Our bassist played with him. It was brilliant stuff. What a thrill to watch fantastic musicians in action.

all in all, a wonderful day!
cheers

The man you need to talk to about how and where to get jazz gigs is Allen Youngblood. jazbalaya@hotmail.com should get to him. If it doesn't let me know and I'll PM you some other contacts.

So is there a GEOEXPAT contingent for this afternoon?

I for one will be out in force carrying an 8x10 of our DEAR ADMINISTRATOR with a bevy of scantily clad [subject to weather] admirers signing HIS praises, to show our Chief Executive just what can be achived under a benign dictatorship.

Laughing_Monkey will become famous soon enough
I dont get it. Even if HK went democratic (not that it really makes a difference) surely when China fully takes back control they will just undo it - assuming China doesnt go democratic... lol
