Where to learn English in HK?

Hey!

I am a German student on exchange here in HK and would be interested in joining a Language school to improve my command of English. Do you have any recommendations for schools?

I already found qlanguage.com.hk. Has somebody heard something about this school?

Thank you very much in advance and regards,

inTrance

Your command of written English already exceeds many of the posts by native speakers on this site....

Many, but not all. inTrance's English is pretty good though. I see a few errors in his/her post that a German speaker would make.

If you want British English then the British Council's courses are pretty good.

The British Council's courses look very promising. Unfortunately, I have only 2-3 months time and their courses have already started some weeks ago. But thanks for this tip!

I am willing to spend some time and money for my English education, because I have recognized that my English has not improved the last years. I am reasonably fluent in a normal conversations and smalltalk but I have problems in more specialised, complex situations and presentations. It simply lacks in practice :-(

Maybe some of you guys have some more ideas?

join amcham and go to some of their free meetings on a subject of interest - that should aid vocab and might be fun.

American Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong) - Home

From your posts you do not need formal teaching, you just need to find opportunities to talk to other professionals about varied subjects.

If you're only here for 2-3 months do you have a HKID? A number of places (including the British Council) won't sign you up unless you do.

Indeed - but if on a short-term exchange then you don't need a HKID card (only necessary for visas longer than 180 days).
