| Hello everyone, I'm new to HK and am wondering if there is anyone out there who is interested in exploring the training and philosophy behind the Jedi Knight? Yes, I am well aware there is no such thing, but only in name. The truth is that most, (except for the levitation and telekenesis) of what was portrayed in the movie insofar as abilities and such are not only possible, but indeed are quite doable, and learnable. Things such as precognition, telepathy, energy manipulation, mind control, all these things are indeed both possible and doable. I'm looking for those out there who are interested in learning such things, from the philosophies on which the Jedi teachings are based upon, to the actual mental and spritual techniques required for both armed and unarmed combat, for which the Jedi were masters of, and are in large part famous for. We'll explore the comparitive philosophy behind these teachings, as well delve deeply into the relative and intrinsic meanings of said teachings. Then we will explore more indepthly the real world socities and their teachings which most reflect the Jedi way of life and thought. It's free of cost, unless you wish to make a donation of course I myself am a former philosophy teacher and martial arts instructor, and am expert on the teachings represented both in the movie, and which underlye those teachings. I can guarantee you that if you come you'll learn a lot, and have your eyes truly opened to many new things. I think this would be a great opportunity for those open minded people out there with a creative imagination, lots of curiosity and serious interest in learning, to get together and make new like minded freinds. If that's you, please, send me an email, I am looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Kashar |

| ooohhh... but they ARE.... you are helplessly within their grip... unwittingly i may add... now - open up your mind all all will be unveiled!! now, as a fact, though I don't remember the stats at all.. there was a significant number of Aussies in the last census (which year I cannot remember, though I do remember filling in the form, with a lot of help from my dear friend Cabernet Sauvignon)... ummm back to the point... there was a significant percentage of Aussies who stated their religion as Jedi. alongside those who claimed to be Agnostic, or Roman Catholic, Anglican and others. Interesting? |

| dropdedfwed is correct indeed...it is an existing religion in Australia. Light & Dark, maybe you should get in touch with Aussies or look up online if such association/ religion group gathering exists in HK |

| I don't think it is classified as a religion as such. People just put it in the census. looking at the "Force" thread, Moving07 notes a similar thing in NZ Last edited by dropdedfwed; 23-09-2008 at 10:31 PM. |

In the world of reality we would call it A SCRIPT and we would call that CGI Typhoons do bring the daft out in some people. |

| No, certainly not a nut case, I taught a college course on the subject, there's certainly nothing nutty about it. I am surprised at the amount of negativism here. I would have thought at least a few people would be interested in sitting down and discussing comparitive philosophies in film and mvie genres in relation to real life. Strange, someone teaches something you don't know how to do, or know anyhting about, and you are considered a nut case. I suppose it is natural to fear what you don't understand. Still quite rude. I knew at least one person would accuse me of not living in reality. I hate to inform you but the Jedi and their teaching are based on very real world philosophies and people. The Samurai of Japan, Taoism, Zen Buddhism, and a number of other philosophies as well as religions were used as models for this particular idea that eventually became the Jedi order. I suppose yuo missed the idea of the class. Not to dress up like loons in robes, but to academically explore the subject, as well as it's foundations in sciencetific fact, and fiction. To know it all, I am indeed the person who posted those posts, why would I deny it. I've spent 27 tears practicing the sword, and as many years boxing, many of them in the Golden gloves. I enjoy combat, why would I be ashamed to admit it, this makes me a nut case? Not at all, and I really should not have to defend myself based on my hobbies and past times. If I remember correctly your a kind of petty vindictive fellow who likes to retaliate against people. Seems you can not help yourself, nice dark side pun, but there's no such thing. I would suggest that before you start personal online flame wars you first of all, don't do that. Your a moderator on this forum, and should set a better example. Two, don't be so quick to judge people, we have never met and I certainly would not presume to call you a nut, though your actions are certainly not noble. Third, don't do that, simple. When someone is simply trying to make friends and start a discussion group, which would bring people together, your efforts to disrupt that are very childish and, well, vindictive. You should be seen but not heard too much, and when heard, it should only be if there is a real problem to address. I don't think your position is there is reveal identities based upon IP addresses you can read, being a Mod, and abuse that power. That's just my two cents worth. Anyhow, I'm sure you'll say that's not how you did it, but whatever the case, I'd say you are out of line. If you truly think I am some type of threat or disruption, which I have not been, there are better ways to go about things then the way you are. I am sorry that my reaction to your attitude via "private" messages insulted you so much, I was equally offended. Seems childish to start something new over something so stupid though. That's your choice though. You being a Mod though I have little choice, this is your play ground, you have made that clear. Goodbye. Last edited by Light&Dark; 24-09-2008 at 02:02 PM. |

| >> No, certainly not a nut case Ok, so you're not the guy who posted about teaching boxing or swordfighting on this and other forums and called me a turd for deleting your commercials? If you were... I'd say you've gone to the dark side.
