Talking Any Recommendations on a Serviced Apt?

Hello,

I'll be relocating to HK in about 3 weeks and am planning to look for property to purchase when I'm out there. Hard to say how long this process will take me (couple months at least is my guess), so figured a serviced apartment would be my best bet in the interim to avoid the hassles of a double move.

My job will be in Central. I'd like to keep the rent at a max of about $10k a month. I know..I know...I've done research on this site's link to serviced apartments as well as gohome.com.hk and nowadays, you can't get anything for about $10k in the area.

I did notice the WStudios that's closeby to Central and rent there is LOW. Anyone have opinions/recommendations (or not!) on this place?? It doesn't have to be right in Central... Ideally, a location that is convenient to public transport (walking distance to MTR) and SAFE!

Appreciate any thoughts!

We'd received a comment about W Studios from one of our members and after a couple of follow up emails, to ensure that it was not mis-representation from our part here's what I got back from them.

Quote:
There is absolutely nothing wrong
with your site and you and your colleagues are doing a excellent job with
Geoexpat. Geoexpat has helped me a lot in settling into HK.

For WStudios, the images which they use on their website are not
representative of the quality of the rooms which they have. I have looked
at some hotels and service apartments and although photos are usually
taken from a better angle, or at the best rooms, they are usually around
there.

My personal feeling when I visited the rooms at WStudios was that there
was a little bit of misrepresentation. If you are curious I would
encourage you to drop by at their place and ask to check out their rooms.
I don't want to go into details. All I can say is that if I had booked a
room based on photos on the website, and arrived here straight from the
airport, I would have felt utterly misled.

Fortunately, I had googled W Studios beforehand and found this link:

Having said that, we've met peole who have stayed there and seem to have enjoyed it. Looks like a meeting ground for many expat transients and has a fairly collegiate atmosphere.

Thx knowitall. Maybe it'll be worth a look when I'm out there, but I have a feeling it won't be what I was hoping... I'm a single chinese girl, so a convenient and safe area is key and the "collegiate atmosphere" might be a little too much, particularly if it ends up being a few months!

If anyone has other recommendations on a place, please let me know.
