Baptist is not top choice of local students for undergraduate studies. For a master's it should depend more on the individual program offered and less on the general reputation of the university. What is your friend interested in studying and why? What other options does he/she have besides HK? What kind of preparation and background does she/he have for the course of study?

I'd say, look for better options if they're available, either in HK or overseas.

Unless they have an exceptional program in education, in about 10 years of interviewing candidates in Hong Kong, I cannot recollect any sparks of brilliance I've seen from that institution.

BU is OK

BaptistU is OKla - I work there; I consider many individuals brilliant in various ways at BU. However, yes, we are the poor sibling of HKU and ChineseU and a few others as well. If you are going for Education, try HKU. For education, it is best in HK; better than the HK Institute of Education. There are also many courses offered in conjunction with the various Univerities. But, these vary in quality and you have to check out the course info and the partnering U.
