Hi Guys Any other forum readers work in the banking sector? Is it usual to get a housing allowance? What is a reasonable figure? Thanks

I'm not, but I know people who are. It's impossible to generalise there are people who are on local contracts who get nothing, and people on expat contracts who get from HK$10,000 up to HK$200,000 a month. It depends on who you work for, how senior you are, how many people are in your family here, etc.

$200000HKD WOW! Thanks for the info, think I'm close to the package negotiation stage. I beleive my company have cut back on the full on expat deal, when relocating you need to agree to be employed as a local however I'm going to try and negotiate a housing allowance and cost of living adjustment, with the argument that cost of living/rent in HK is more than in London. Does this sound reasonable to you?
