Wanted to know Good Movers in HK

We are shifting to our new appartment ........and I am clueless on who are the good movers. I saw a few people shift and it looked like the cartons were given by the company. I want to know what options I have in hiring help. If I pack on my own and if I get the movers to pack.

Also need a few names of reliable movers in Hk ......who could come to help me in Kowloon side. and on an average how much time they take to shift ?

Try browsing through the dollarsaver ( http://www.dollarsaver.com.hk ) and also the classifieds in SCMP. Unless you have unusual / expensive stuff most movers are OK.

One company to avoid is an Indian / Pakistani owned outfit called Farid. Abusive, unethical and downright incompetant ...

Shipps,

Here's a list on GoHome.

http://www.gohome.com.hk/english/res...age/movers.asp

The movers will provide you boxes which they pick up after you have unpacked. If you plan to pack yourself just ask them to deliver the boxes a week in advance and you can do a bit a day.
Otherwise they can pack and help unpack for you all in the same day.

quite a few of us use this guy...very reliable and good. he comes to your place, looks at the stuff you need to move and gives you an estimate. he gets his boxes and his guys packs all your stuff, so you don't have to worry much.

we move within midlevels itself and it cost us 2500, which included carrying up a few things (10 floors)! last week he moved a friend of mine from discovery bay to midlevels and charged her 3000.

his contact details:

Eric - 92389812

p.s try and request that you be the first move of the day...is much quicker that way.

I paid 1.2k when I moved a few years ago from Kowloon to NT.
Stuff I had included living room furniture, all household appliances except air-cons, 3 matresses, etc - probably close to 300 cu-mt. I think I got boxes from P'n'S closeby, and did the packing myself.
The movers had a big truck and 3 helpers; carrying on stairs was not reqd.
I got their contact from some local chinese friends .. sorry can't help you more with that since I'm not in HK anymore.

Try these

1.Ika Removal Co
King Win Factory Bldg, Kwun Tong
Tel:2793 4139

They will give you a quotation on the phone if you have a rough idea of your item list. You have the option of using your own packing material or they can provide you boxes. You have to do your own packing though, but they will pack your mattresses, equipment such as computers, dvd players etc on the day you move.

2.Reliance Packing & Moving Co Ltd
Fortune Ind Bldg, Kowloon Bay
Tel:2713 8263

Reliance will fax you an item list to fill out and provide all packing material. Roughly 1.6K for 200cu.ft
