Desperately looking for that special beach I remember from my childhood:

I have been trying to find the Hong Kong Officer's & Prisoner's Club with its beautiful empty beaches (in Stanley?) but can not find it or information online! Does anyone know what happened to the club? Should it not exist anymore: Does anyone know a stunning -deserted- alternative?

Also, I am grateful for any insider-non-touristy advice on what to see, visit or eat (I love dimsum & sea food)

I thought it was still there , just off the main entrance[to Stanley Prison] What happened? Pre handover it was the weekend hangout of choice; favourite tipple a chilled Jacob's Creek Sauvignon Blanc at a princely $22 a bottle. Then the foreign rabble left, and that was that. Btw the beach is called Tweed Bay.

Hello so you must know or have somone who use to work for the formere Prison Dept.Yes the good Private beach which was behind the standley Prison is now no more used.It have been turn to a swerage purpose beach.so that is why noone can go there because of the tight security around that Correctional center now .i wish this did help you .Now we have the pool in the club .if you do remember that there used to be the lawn-ball area but now tun into stanley club and the swimming pool is on that area.the good old days are gone.so i wish that this information did help you to recall those days .and by the way how many years are we looking at .at least it have been 20 yrs ago .Am i right .bye

yes, it was a long time ago, I was there from 1980-85. It's such a shame, the beach was the most beautiful ever!
Do you know of a beach similar to this one: beautiful and empty?

No i really do not know it and now my husband have also retire form there .HOW about the one it lantau Island .That is such a nice beach or the discovery Bay one .take care bye .
