Adoption of golden retriever

Looking to adopt a golden retriever - do you know of any rescue organizations?

Adopting Dogs

SPCA has various ones on offer. If you dont find one you like, keep going back every couple of weeks and something always turns up:
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong)

HKDR usually has a number of "troubled" animals but they also do regularly get well behaved ones:
Hong Kong Dog Rescue
I just check the website, they happen to show a few GR available. Visit them and you can play with the dogs a bit too.

I don't under stand the previous posters comment about HK dog rescue's dogs being "troubled". In fact, most (the vast majority) of the dogs are very well socialized, know basic commands and are very friendly. If a particular dog has any issues, HKDR will inform the potential adopter.

Several goldens listed with pictures below, all available at Hong Kong Dog Rescue. They are all very sweet and well behaved. New goldens come in all the time.

"Troubled" dogs are dogs with "issues" aka: behaviour problems like aggression and/or fear. HKDR always has several dogs with horrendous pasts. You only need to read the stories about those dogs to realise they can't possibly behave "normally" because of the abuse they've suffered at the hands of ignorant, useless owners. Most of these abused dogs will have a lifetime of behaviour problems because of their terrible experiences.

Right, but these "troubled" dogs at HKDR are the exception. Most are wonderful pets from day one without behaivor problems (except I suppose those that you would normally expect from any dog moving home). If the dog has behavior probs we don't let them go to just any adopter and we are always careful to inform potential adoptors of any issues a particular dog has, which we are very familiar with.

The other post just seemed to paint the HKDR dogs as primarily having issues, which just isn't the case.

I wasnt trying to be negative

I apologise if my "troubled" comment caused some kind of offence. I do not imply in any way that there is something wrong with HKDR. They do fantastic work. I have supported them in the past (cash as well as walks/visits, calendar purchases etc) and will continue to do so.

HKDR (thankfully) takes in a lot of dogs and they do provide invaluable support that is needed for dogs. Many are are lovely and "normal", but they also do take in dogs with history of abuse and abandonements. Potential adopters need to be aware of these pasts (HKDR does not hide this information).

I would encourage people who have not visited HKDR to pop into their place in PokFulLam and see the variety of animals up for adoption. Also, you can see full set of animals available up on their website.

I apologise if my comments were taken negatively - my intent was not to be negative regarding HKDR or their operations.

I didn't think your "troubled" comment was the least bit negative... it's the truth! Where would all those sad, desperate "troubled" dogs be without HKDR? Dogs are not born with problems, the problems come about at the hands of humans!
