I am Chinese, Indian, Swedish.
And I LOVE Hong Kong. It's a great place to grow up, even if you don't speak Chinese, which I unfortunately do not.
You don't have to put your daughter into the community (local) school. There are a lot of Private International schools, however they are a lot more expensive compared to the local schools.
Generally, Hong Kong is not a racist place, especially not the people. You'd be happy to know that there are all kinds of mixtures and people from every part of the world here. Indian, African, Chilean, Swedish, Japanese, Pakistani, American...those are just SOME of the people I have met. I have a very good friend who is Chinese, but was adopted very young by a British couple. He seems to love it here, and he has a lot of friends. So being adopted in Hong Kong? Not a problem. =) I actually think Hong Kong is one of the best places to be if you are adopted , or if you are a couple that has adopted. =)
The only reason I would stay away is because of the pollution. But it seems to be getting better.
I'd love to help out more, so if you have any questions, please e-mail me.

We recently moved here with 4 adopted Chinese daughters. So far we've not had any issues and our kids have adjusted beautifully. I didn't really expect any, but I am still surprised at how easy going and accepting people are here. They go to ESF schools where there are so many different kids from all over the world. It's a great experience. One of the biggest positives has got to be the exposure to Cantonese and especially Mandarin in school. While they got some of this back home, twice weekly lessons during school is wonderful.

Feel free to email me directly if you'd like to talk more.

Christine
