HGC Internet problems???? Hi, I have recently moved into a serviced apartment in Hung Hom and have had HGC Broadband (the only option) connected. My internet comes straight from a socket in the wall. The service is advertised as 10Mb/s but it is extremely slow; each page taking up to 2 minutes to open. When the HGC technician came round he spent almost 2 hours and then said it was my computer and showed me how it worked fine on his little computer, although admittedly I didn't really know what I was looking at. My computer is a 6 month old Sony Vaio and I have no problems connecting to any other broadband service either through the cable or wireless. If anyone has any suggestions then they would be very gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

If your computer is to blame here, then it's probably a software issue (should it be hardware, it will either work or not. not somewhere in the middle). Therefore, i'd suggest you do a clean re-install of your operating system, and see if that solves it. A re-install shouldn't take more then an hour to do ... Edit : since Vaio's come with a lot of crapware/bloatware a clean re-install will boost your overall performance as well Last edited by FilipH; 24-08-2008 at 12:28 PM.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like a reinstall is my best option.
