Views on Air Asia? Has anyone flown Air Asia? A friend from the UK just asked me if they are "ok" and I do not know. I try to avoid discount airlines and so am possibly not the right person for him to ask so I thought I might ask the "general expat public" what they think of it!

Have flown with them a number of times...to be honest they are fine, basic yes, but for short haul flights, no problems at all. They have just started flying to KL from HK, which is a definate plus as the run to macau was the real downside for me. Macau airport is as dire as they come!

Is the leg-room significantly worse than Cathay/MAS? It was a KL run that my friends were looking at.

have flown with them over a dozen times. can't complain fairly reliable and great value for money, even allowed me to to check in a couple of times only 30mins before the flight .. seats are confortable and although no free food you can puchase snacks at very reasonably prices ... only downside is that that there can often be slight delays (so not good for if you have a connected flight). this is especially so far the later flights as they are often running very tight schedules to go back and forth from locations currently you can fly macau to bangkok in sept for about 110 HKD dollars if you choose the right time ... soy ou can't beat that. .. works about 1200 HKD's inc taxes ....

Flew with them once and it is what it is - a budget airline. Great value for money, no complains there. But, no food/water onboard and yeah no allocated seats which means you need to make a dash for it.

we flew Air Asia from Singapore to Phuket last month. I thought it was pretty damn good. The planes are new, and on the way back we actually left Phuket early, and arrived in SG 30 mins early. Only thing is the luggage restriction is 15kg and not 20Kg.

Yes I think they are fine and I find that Cathay actually tends to have narrower seat in general so I would say that it's at least equally comfortable in terms of sitting. The three annoying things are that seats are not assigned so it's first come, first serve once in the plane. No free food or drinks which isn't that big of a deal. The lower luggage allowance and fairly high extra luggage charge. Frankly, I'd say they are better than any North American airline. Mind you that's not hard to beat!

I've flown with them and they were fine. Airplane was a bit old, food was shite, but it was cheap and on time- you can't ask more from a budget airline. Air Asia Reviews and Air Asia Passenger Opinions about AirAsia product and service standards
