iphone less than HK$ 8000 ?????

Hi there have been shopping for an unlocked 3G 16GB iphone. The cheapest I have found so far is HK$ 8000 in Wan Chai. Does anyone know of anywhere cheaper than this? Cheers

8000$ for a phone? Geeez, how people love their toys... I guess one needs to get a nice 10K Prada bag to put the phone in....

Have you tried Sin Tat in Mongkok?
They should have them cheaper.

I came across one at Wanchai with brochure display of the iphone and usually ones where most foreigners crowd around. They are doing at 7k for black and 8k for white - 16GB. Check it out. I am still hoping for it to be slightly lower before moving on it.

I were down to Sin tat today, i found them for as cheap as 6300HKD(16GB model). But some of them were hacked/jailbroken/whatever it is called when they modify the phone to make it work with all sim cards. They also sold original unlocked Hong Kong version iphones, but these were 7000HKD+. Could someone perhaps comment on if those hacked versions are just as good as the real thing ? The guys down in sin tat recommended me to get the hacked version as it is way cheaper and they said it makes no difference. The hacked versions were imported from US or something. Could someone who knows better perhaps comment before I'll get one.

With the number of problems these phone have - with dropped connections maintaining signals, I'd seriously recommend waiting for the next generation.

The current phones apparently use a shoddy chipset from Infineon.

I've been using my iphone for the past 3 weeks without any problems whatsoever. It's a great little machine.

Also if you are getting the iphone for use in Hong Kong then why not get it from 3? Even if you are under a contract, it would probably still be cheaper to buy out of the contract and sign up with 3.
