The alternative being that there really is a bomb and everyone is scared for a reason.
The authorities have to err on the side of caution with these things.

I guess we'll all be very happy when the Olympics end and the nutcases leave this part of Asia.

Mmm let's see...how many bombs have exploded in HK in the last 20 years? Hong Kong is just a terrorist hotbed, let's all run for cover...

I guess that's what everyone thinks until it happens. It's easy to see anywhere related to the olympics is going to be at risk with some of the nutcases out there who like publicity. Provided it all goes back to "normal" after they end I can live with it.

I'm more worried about crossing the street or even being hit by lightning than about a bomb threat in HK... Statistically a lot more frequent than bombs!

Maybe someone should start a thread about people being hit by lightning?

The number of bombs in HK is about equal to the number of planes flown into buildings in the US prior to 9/11.
Just because it has never happened doesn't mean it can never happen and the authorities can't just blow off the threat.
Like MovingIn07 said, it just takes one nutcase with a cause and there are plenty of both out there.
Could also make the case that it would be easier to do something stupid in HK than Beijing.

ohhh here we go with 911 again, the near holocaust of the USA...

The tragedy of the new millenium!!! Get over it, more people die from guns or car accident every year and you don't make a plate out of it...

Well, bombings in Hong Kong are rare...but there have been random cases of violence by nutjobs before....

Does anyone remember the Cityplaza bombings way back??? If i remember correctly, one or two people were killed in those multiple bombings...
