I would like to hear what people think of Independent Financial Advice in Hong Kong. HSBC claim to provide it, but their very name suggests they would not be too independent! Does anyone have any good / bad experiences with an IFA to share?

Independent good adviser is like looking for big foot or yeti. I doubt any one has met one in Hong Kong.

Definitely don't be advised by an HSBC or any bank, like you say. They are most certainly biased, the worst financial advise i have gotten so far came from a bank.

Your question is also a bit to broad as "financial advise" covers a lot. Maybe you can be a bit more specific?

Just watch your PM inbox get flooded by the various IFAs who troll this site.

Some of them will even pretend to be enthusiastic members recommending an IFA, do check their posting history.
