American Funds Dealer

Does anyone know a financial advisor/planner or bank/broker that sells American Funds?
I have just moved back to HK and would like to keep control over my mutual funds from when I lived in the USA without being forced to liquidate in this market.
Ideally looking for a local firm who will be the custodian and "manage" the account for me.

Cheers,

You have a problem if you are a US Citizen or Green card holder. Very few people in Hong Kong will want your business because of the onerous reporting reporting for tax purposes which the US Government imposes on them if they accept it.

PDLM - Anyone will work with you as long as you have the money and the right amount.

Matherjo - You might want to contact etrade / schwab ( Charles Schwab, Hong Kong, Ltd. ) , they both have local offices.

I don't see why you cannot maintain your current accounts and trade / switch online. Its not like Mutual funds are transaction oriented ...

Indeed - but for HSBC, for example, I think the "right amount" is millions of dollars.

Not really. There are a lot of ways you can operate a US account through HSBC, the easiest being to open a US based account with them. They'll be happy to do it for you, from Hong Kong (assuming you get to the right department in the Central office).

Ah OK - yes, that would work. Someone in the international department on the 6th floor at HQ should be able to arrange it I guess. (More readily if you are already a Premier here.)

I haven't posted in forever but I'd contact these guys. Same company and an office in HK that I believe does Wealth Management.
