Cover charge at Yumla?

Do you pay $180 at the door when you go there?

I don't go in there too often, but I don't recall ever paying a cover charge.

I didn't pay the last time I was there about a month ago. Most people were on the street anyway!

"Venues reserve the right to charge a door charge (entrance fee) if they see fit" -at least this is what the police and race unit at the home affairs bureau have told me when in inquired a few years back.

After some mixed friends (English/South Asian decent) - on New Year's Eve - were told at a venue which I and they had been before without paying that if they wanted to enter it would cost them HK500 plus a min of one drink.

Although others - Chinese, Japanese and Caucasian - past through without paying and the bouncer said to me if I wanted to enter I could w/o paying (I am Caucasian)

well that is what you get for no decent race / equality legislation in HK.

Just for the sake of discussion (because it's a T8 day with nothing better to do) if a bar discovers, and can show data to support this, that people who wear blue trousers always come into their club to enjoy the music but never spend any money at the bar but that people in all other colour trousers always spend at least $150 at the bar, isn't it reasonable then for the bar to impose a consumable door charge of $150 on people wearing blue trousers in order that they don't freeload on everyone else?

They are running a business after all and if only people in blue trousers turned up it wouldn't last very long.

First you have a thing against T8, now against people who wear blue jeans.

Man, you are in one p*ssy mood today

Dunno about you PDLM, but I do have pants in blue and black and white (even in red and green!). Didn't manage to find a decent second skin yet.

After all, Montgomery Buses also just tried to have free seats for their frequent travellers... or what?

OK - substitute brown eyes for blue trousers...

The point remains that if you can reliably identify a people who will not spend money in your establishment if you let them in then is it not reasonable that they should have to pay a cover charge? Bars are businesses not charities.

man, you've no idea what is possible with today's contact lenses....

to get back to point - we all know that this happens because of trousers of eye colour. It happens only because of race. Which I don't like. Ok, so this is HK, a place with minimum state interference. I'd at least prefer if they were putting a sign at the door "Indians 500$" extra. Just to tell me where I don't want to go.

As for the added paragraph - I'd say "reliably identify a person who will not spend money in your establishment" based on his race is a fairly good definition of racism.
