Make sure when you start your lit review, or whenever you read something related to your area of interest, that you use something like EndNote straight away. This is a great method for storing all the papers you have read and critically reviewed. In addition, its compatible with Word and easy to reference.

Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the tips. I so have learned lesson for that in my other projects. It is vital important! At the moment, I am trying out a new free software called Zotero, with which you don't need open a seperate programme to put in notes when you have found something online. I heard some complains about using endnotes, so I have never used it. I will check it out and compare their functions. Cheers!

hi

I was a social worker and is looking for what I can do here. Thinking of applying for clinical psychology master in HKU or HK Chinese. Mind if I ask you information about your study?

Really! In that case, we are uni mates. How did your first year go? I am around uni these days. Maybe we could meet for a coffee or so.

Sure, if it helps although I am doing more of developmental and child psychology. What would you like to know?

thanks for the reply. I was a beginner in the therapy field so would like to have more training, including theories and practical skills. But I do not speak Cantonese so need to look for class/training conducted in English or Mandarin. Is your class conducted in English?
2nd question: I actually want to have continuous education/training rather than another degree. However, it seems that only psychologists/educational psy/clinical psy can practice or provide therapy in HK. I'm not sure how true it is, but at least that's what I found so far from job ad and friends' experience. So, I can not help but wondering if I need to get a master of psychology in order to find a job here. Therefore, would like to hear your opinions/experience. Thank you in advance!

Yes, the courses I am taking are all in English.

Do you mean short courses? In my understanding, I don't know what your professional background is. But I guess you probably need certain knowledge base in place already to pursue further training. I would very much think that only trained psychologist or theropist (usually takes at very least 3 years) can provide such service. It is not like some practice inside China. But again, I am in more of cognitive and developmental area and don't know that much about becoming a clinical psychologist. You could probably check out HKU or Chinese U's psychology department for more information about it.
