Looking for Apartment , budget $8000

Dear All,
I'm looking for an apartment , would be good if it's furnished and having a budget of 8K. I'll be

With this budget, I'm wondering will it be possible to have a good place with say,2 bedroom in places like
Tung Tung (i heard it has pollution problems) Tsing Yi (better than Tung Chung, closer to city)
Kowloon Bay...

Moreover, what's the best way to get going with apartment hunting, through agents OR on your own, with the help of sites like CENTADATA.

Your suggestion with this respect would be greatly helpful!!!

Regards,
Raj.

thanks for the reply.
I'm working in TST area and willing to commute for 40-50 minutes!!
I came across few good apartments (withing budget+spacious) from Tuen Wan / Tin shui wei while doing online search, I would like to know, is the travelling is a realy big issue, when one considers this locations?
Moreover, besides travelling time, is there any specific I should know, before start looking in this areas.

Regards,
Raj.

Hey Raj,

Traveling time is not that big of an issue if your used to it, I travel 1 hour each way just to get into TST as its always has traffic jams once u reach the outskirts. Another thing is that will you be going out a lot for drinking etc. if you do go out, its better to live somewhere closer to the city then for example like Tin Shui Wai, the taxi fares will be a killer.

I would recommend you find a place in Tsuen Wan more than Tin Shui Wai, you dont find that many foreigners in that area unless they travel to china a lot then you will see the ocassional ones as Tin shui wai is very close to the china border.

check out this website and try to get a price range, its not always correct but I reckon you should be able to find apartments closer.

check out Whampo estate or whampo gardens, its in Hung hom and only a stones throw from TST, i see that you can get a 2 bedroom aprox 400-500sq feet flat for aprox 7.5K, just go there and find some agents and tell them your max budget is 8K. whampoa is quite good, they have a lot of facilities there, when the old airport was in Kowloon, lots of airline crews lived there.

good luck

tell the agents your max budget is 7k...they will always (in my experience) take you to places a little over your expressed budget...best to keep something in the locker!
