I have a musician friend who'd like to get his sound out here, as well as get some feedback while he's still in the recording phase of his demo.

Where/what/how are the ideal places to book such gigs? Will he need a work visa (American)? What if he only takes 'tips' from the Door? Is that a salary?

Oh, if it matters, his genre crosses Folk to Jazz to Rhythm&Blues. (Dont knowif there are 'rock'n'roll only places. Wouldn'tbe a good fit.)
