Recommendations for gyms and pools around Quarry Bay

What is the best gym to sign up for around the Quarry Bay and Tai Koo Shing area?

Also, any recommendations for swimming pools?

What sort of training do you do? Weights? Cardio? Classes?

There's FITNESS FIRST at Taikoo Place, in the PCCW tower. That's where I go. It's quite decent and not too expensive. It's clean, decent equipment, lots of classes etc.

Then there's CALIFORNIA further up east on King's Road. This 'branch' is quite new. Haven't been there though (I go to FF).

There's also PHYSICAL at Jusco building even further east on King's Rd. This one is probably the cheapest and oldest of the three of them. But I haven't been there, so don't take my word for it.

Swimming pools? Not sure. I live in Sai Wan Ho, and I believe there's an indoor aquatic centre in that area. Close to Lei King Wan, but I'm not sure. Somebody else might know?

Hope that helps.

Happy sweatin'.

thanks

Appreciate the recommendations. I primarily do cardio (cycling classes and running) and little on the weights. So if Fitness First has good classes, then I'll check that out.

How much is average for a 1 year or 2 year agreement per month? Can I haggle with them on the price?

I was also looking to maintain the swim portion for triathlon training, but it seems all the pools are farther to get to. The only pool I've been to and relatively inexpensive is the SCAA in Causeway Bay/Happy Valley.

Island East Sports Centre has an indoor pool (beside the HK Film Archive...follow the signs from the MTR in Sai Wan Ho for 5 mins) but it's small and often crowded, esp. this summer with all pub. facilities bein g free of charge. There is a club in the Kornhill Serviced apartments above Jusco Plaza that has a pool as well i believe, might be for tenants only tho...

I think I'm paying about 424 per month or something like, at FF at Taikoo Place.

I'm there quite often, so I think it's acceptable. I never go to the classes, but I see there's a lot on, for people at all fitness levels.

Last time I renewed my membership, they wanted me to sign up for one year, but I chose not to accept that, and I'm just going month by month.

Worth a try.

CF in Quarry Bay is a good option. With a contract its definitely cheaper than 400 a month..... not sure about no contract charges... It does lack the outside world view in the cardio area

Seasons Fitness Central

If you are looking for an indoor swimming pool and a nice gym, I suggest Seasons Fitness in central, lap pool large cardio and 2 group ex studios.

What part of the OPs request for gym recommendations around Quarry Bay and Tai Koo did you not understand? If he wanted a gym in Central he would have asked for that. Quit advertising your gym, its annoying.

I'm going to the CF in Quarry Bay, it does take quite a bit of haggling, but I'm paying 298/month on a 20 month contract. I'm sure it can be cheaper if you know how to haggle (just say you have a better offer at the other clubs and threaten to walk out). The equipments are pretty decent, but there really isn't a big variety of classes. They've got all the essentials like bodypump, yoga, tai chi, zumba, steps, etc. Their spin room is a little cramped for my taste, but I do like their Shimano bikes. Enter at your own risk!! bwahahaha

hello there

Hello there, this is a public forum, where we can help out fellow expats.

they also wanted a swimming pool but mentioned that had even looked at Causeway bay, cebtral seemed like a logical option if they really needed a pool.

If you look through my posts I have spoken about Fitness First and Seasons.

Please keep your posts constructive, your negative posts are annoying.
