Yes you do. Hong Kong and Mainland China have their own visa regulations and only three nationalities can visit the PRC without a visa - Brunei, Japan and Singapore.

That restriction is only for Singaporean nationals. Bruneian and Japanese nationals can still enter for the 15 days without a visa. My guess is because they're expecting many Chinese Singaporeans to want to travel around this time since they make up 76% of the country's population.

Thanks so much for this. I do hope that one day there shall not be any visa required to enter China for forgien passport holders working in HK.

That's not going to happen before 2047, so don't hold your breath.

Brunei has 381k inhabitants, so the number is too small to be important. But they are an absolute Islamic Sultanate, and other Islamic countries' citiziens don't get any visa easily right now.

Singapore has about 3.5 mio Chinese, Japan has a population of 127 mio.

That doesn't make sense to me, but making sense is not what China is about anyway.

I would like somone Japanese to confirm that they can still travel to China without visa. I have another information. Not only that but there are no visas issued to Japanese without HKID in Hong Kong. (For some nationalities that is still possible as per today).

Visas are very much about politics not populations
