I've got a jaded 'seen-it, done-it, know-it already' friend of mine from London visiting for one day. Stupidly, I promised a tour of HK in the evening that will really knock his socks off.

The question is, where do I take him? Definitely not night markets or anywhere in the tourist guide books etc as he knows HK quite well and has done it all. Is there anywhere off the beaten track you can advise?

I'm happy to go with high-tech glam, or low-down and dirty old school but it should make a statement about Hong Kong. Budget is an issue because he's a cheap skate so creativity is appreciated!

Since he [your friend] is such a knowitall , why not let him plan the evening?
Or is he the type who having done a thing would never dream of trodding that path ever again?
In which case it might be wise to 'misplace' yourself and your phone for the evening

Go to Ap Lei Chau by bus and eat al fresco at the wedding banquet place there, replete with rats and trash bags and a tacky white row boat with a badly printed fake backdrop used for photo shoots for newly married couples. Buy him a nice bottle of wine with a screw top from the mindblowing assortment of four wines they carry.
