Shipping stuff to the UK. Hi, I have stuff I need sending back to the UK. It consists mainly of clothes, computer stuff and books. All in all it weighs about 100kg, although it's not that big. What's the cheapest way of getting it there? Time is not an issue. I have no idea where to begin - I have loads of questions: How much will it cost? Any companies you can recommend? Do I need to pack it up in boxes myself, of will they supply a crate? Do I need to take it somewhere, or will they collect? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ollie

Shipping stuff from the UK to HK Hi I know you asked the question about shipping from HK to the UK, but perhaps this will help. We used Doree Bonner from the UK who in turn used the local HK company called Baltrans. It took 8 weeks on a ship to sail from Harwich to HK. We had 615 cubit meters (this is the standard measure for shipping by sea) and it cost app £3000. The whole move was very smooth, on time, and nothing was broken. Baltrans chaps unpacked the whole lot in 3 hours which was unbelievable as it took three professional packers in the UK 2 days to pack our apartment into 150 boxes. Now if you only have 100kg you may try to send it by air. I just had excess luggage from London to HK and paid app £5 a kilo. The luggage flies then cargo planes and reaches destination within a week. I reckon it should cost about the same from HK. I hope this helps. Anna

post office Do you know anyone who works for an airline? They get great deals for shipping if they have allowance left. The post office is quite reasonabley priced I think www.hongkongpost.com. I want to do the same thing so let me know how you get on!

Well true if it's all one box, but the weight limit per package is 30kg (for which the charge would be around HK$600 per 30kg package by surface parcel post). So the answer to the question would seem to be around HK$2000 if done in 4 boxes. http://www.hongkongpost.com/eng/post...el_surface.htm

Multiple boxes - seems to be the answer. Thanks everyone for their replies - I can luckily split it up into multiple boxes, so will try and send it in 3 or 4 30kg lots. Does anyone know if the post office supplies boxes, or where I can find ones myself that comply to their regulations? Thanks so much, Ollie
