Personal training Hi, I have recently shifted to HK. The gym's here are really good, but the personal training is crazy expensive in some of the well known gyms. Does anybody know any free lancers or gyms, where PT charges are a little bit more sane. I am looking for a longterm 4/5 per week training. Thanks.

In my opinion, personal training is either for rich snobs or people who lack the motivation to do it themselves. If you're too cheap to pay the going rate for it then maybe you need to find a workout partner that'll get you going. If you're concerned about finding someone well qualified, then you pay the going rate, you don't shop for discounted trainers who may or may not be qualified. What is it that you're paying for? Knowledge or someone to push you and hold your hand?

gym and workout sometime kind of bore and personal, however if sometime with friend/partner i think that will be more fun. I was join Fitness First's PT long time ago I wasn't that good and agree with you very expensive 600 per a hour training contain alot of stretching stuff and some club even do massage 15 mins. workout is long term exercise so I'll say go out with friend and observe people how they do it and read books and online video will be helpful. of course if you want someone to tell you right/wrong and make the plan for you then go for PT.

| don't be so harsh... I actually think personal training may help some, mainly due to not really knowing how to work out. For example, the need to train different muscles on different days, or learning to give it that extra push at the end of your reps to excel yourself to the next level... I've got a coworker that's completely motivated, but she complains about how she's not improving. After talking with her, I found that she wasn't working out properly. She wanted to bulk up, but everything that she was doing was simply toning. However, there is merit in your statement that you shouldn't shop for discount trainers. My suggestion would be to find a training partner that can spot you while you do your work outs, and if you need education, then pay for 1 or 2 PT sessions. Quote:

I'm not saying PT's have no use, I agree that they can help build a good program and get people out of a rut but shopping for discounted ones four 4-5 times/week??? One can't help but question the purpose of this. I guess it's kind of like buying the fake Rolex! I agree with your suggestion which is somewhat what I said but way more tactfully.

In reply to OP, You can barter with the clubs on price/rate. My initial quotation was $750 per session. I now pay almost half that figure.

I'll tell you what...when you become God or slightly below as system administrator, I'll consider your request. In the meantime, ask your discounted PT to work on growing a thicker skin
