Ingrates

Time for a rant...

All over the place we see people "struggling" to talking/messaging on their mobile phones whilst attempting to do other things: walking, hailing a minibus, paying a taxi fare, ordering a sandwich, etc.

But the ones that get me are those who attempt to use a mobile phone while crossing the road. These ingrates go loopy if you try to stop them from walking in front of big heavy metal objects travelling at speed.

Obviously, by stopping these ingrates from damaging other people's property I will avoid costly trips to the dry cleaners. But some days I wonder why I bother when all I get is abuse.

Oh well, although I am a believer in survival of the least stupid, blood, gore and brains are such a bother to remove so I shall continue ...

Ok, rant over.

Yup leave them to it and if they get splatted by a minibus its not your problem.

Why is it that they walk reasonably straight but as soon as they answer the phone they start walking like a drunken sailor in wanchai?

Claire if you've seen the infamous Bus uncle on youtube then you'll know that they have 'pressure'

Yesterday as I made my way thru a crowded MTR station, I thought...we need a new Facebook group..."The next person that stops in front of me to: sms or play video games...I'm gonna punch them in the back of the head!

At the airport once, at the bit where they scan your hand luggage, saw a man putting his mobile through the scanner. Unfortunately he was still having a conversation on it. As his head disappeared into the scanning machine the immigration officer had to yank him back.

Yup indeed we do

Also why is it that they rush into the mtr but as soon as they're through the doors they suddenly grind to a halt thus everybody behind me is pushing us all in.

I saw the funniest road crossing I've ever seen in HK yesterday.

This was on Hennessy Road, heavy traffic (as if there's ever anything but). A dude walks out onto the road without looking. Then as he almost gets hit by a vehicle, he decides it's time to start checking for traffic. After about 5 seconds of waiting, he decides he has more important things to get to, sticks out his hand to the oncoming vehicles and gets into sort of a half-jog to cross the road. It looked like he didn't quite want to spend the energy to really run, but didn't want to walk either. Hilarious. Worst part was, the vehicles slowed down and accommodated him.

Better to accommodate an idiot than deal with your insurance premiums being hiked.

Better to accommodate an idiot than... having to spend time waiting for the police and ambulance to arrive, for statements to be taken and the road to be cleared is a bit more likely.
