Poker in Macau

Tried google but can't find a definitive list of casinos in Macau that hold poker tournaments (texas holdem).

Anyone have any ideas?

The only casino which has Texas Hold' Em at all in Macau is the new Grand Lisboa (2nd floor). I do not believe they hold tournaments as of yet, it's strictly cash games. Taxes hold'em is a fairly recent development in Macau and I wouldn't expect the popularity of it to drastically rise due to the confrontational nature of the game and the vast amount of clientèle coming from Mainland China. Additionally there is a freeze against any additional tables or slot machines in Macau for the near foreseeable future. I will be in Macau next weekend and will confirm.

That is not the only casino that has texas holdem at all. There are several that have tables now as I have found this information on the internet.

What i wanted was a schedule of tournaments at some of these places. I will be in Macau this weekend so will confirm

Please let me know what casinos you will find tournaments and tables at! I have been to Macau with several people over the past year in MGM, Venetian, Wynn and have come up empty. They just stare blankly at you when you mention Texas hold'em or show you to Caribbean stud when you say poker. I'm curious to find out about your experience.

Well I know they had it nowhere when i was there back in February and it was introduced a couple of days after i left.

I have no idea about tournaments which was the purpose of this post.

According to this it seems they all have poker although it may not be accurate.

Poker rooms in Macau

If i find it anywhere other than the 2 mentioned i will let you know,

I think Sand Casino Macau has Texas Holdem....last time (6 months ago) the jackpot I saw was 3M? Didn't really pay attention to it coz I only played Baccarat and Black Jack.

I just broswed Sand's website and funny enough they doesn't even mention a thing about its casino part (or I overlooked again). Is that some sorta regulation there refrains them from doing so?

The 3 casinos that I know of that offer Poker are:

Grand Lisboa
Grand Waldo
Starworld

Grand Lisboa has 8 tables dedicated to it on the 2nd floor. All cash games, no tourneys. Blinds are (in HK$) 10/20, 25/50 and 50/100, max buy-in 100 x Big Blind.

I like playing there - I'm not the best poker player but there are enough fishes (new and loose) to make it quite easy to win. Crowd is a mix of westerners, mainlanders, Koreans, Japanese and overseas Asian returnees.

It gets pretty packed there and late (10:30PM+) on a Friday or Saturday night, you probably have to wait on the waiting list for a while.

I went to check out Grand Waldo once soon after they opened. They have a dedicated poker room but one big problem is that they don't have enough people. They had one 10/20 cash table going but it was otherwise very empty. It could have been because they are new.

I went there to play in the Sit and Go tourneys but they didn't have enough people to have a game going. Plus, from what I hear, there are a lot more sharks at the Grand Waldo so it can be harder to win.

Starworld only had a computerised poker game. Not into that so quickly left. Otherwise, it's a super nice casino.

All in all, I'm glad to see that poker is getting big here in Asia.

I played poker at Lisboa and it's the most boring game ever. Easy, but boring. The dealers don't really know what is going on, having players speak like 5 different languages is confusing. The rules are not enforced and the play is very, very slow. Prepare to play 1 hand for every 5 minutes.

That being said, players are really bad. They tend to be calling stations with no aggression. I played the biggest limit at Lisboa, I can't really remember if it was $100-$200 or$200 -$400 NL but the game is pretty easy. I had players call me with bottom pair 60% of the pots I won.

Winning there was fun, but not worth the time it takes. Back to the Baccarat tables!
