Dog Kennel and Requirements

Hello,

Anyone have any info on dog care places ? I will be traveling in next few weeks and want to put her in good hands for 4 days while I am away. I would need locations/references/costs and vaccination requirements(what shots are needed before boarding). I am on HK side.

Thanks

most boarding places require basic vaccines plus kennel cough. best to go and see your vet

Thanks. I don't even have a vet as of yet. My pup just got here a few weeks ago. So, I guess I would like to add to the post and ask for recommendations for Vets in or near WanChai.

Also, I'm noticing most boarding is done in Sai Kung. I would like to avoid that distance if possible. So, anything on HK Island and near WanChai would be preferred or even Southern Kowloon.

Thanks

You can give Stacy a call at Ferndale Kennels on 2792 4642. They pick up and deliver also, but best to contact them regarding their requirements. Their website is here > > > Contact Us

edf19 is on a distinguished road
you can try to ring up SPCA (wanchai), see if they willing to accept your puppy, seems they hv age restriction, can't be too young. not really sure though.

or you can go n try to call up CSK pet, i put my dog for boarding at their Yuen Long kennel and seems they just expand their biz, now with a boarding service at Tai kok Tsui (near Olympic)

all boarding need full vaccination, deworm, kennel cough, heartworm, rabies.
price almost the same, you can check details from the link below

or if you can't meet their requirement, maybe you can look for someone who willing to help u to doggysit for couple of days.

Countryside Kennel ph: 3422 8818

SPCA General Hotline: 2802 0501, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong)

The SPCA in Wan Chai and most of the small boarding kennels on HK island (all of the ones I have heard of actually) only take the dogs out of their kennels once a day (for a short time), which means that they have to go to the bathroom in the kennel and sit around in it. The dogs are also left alone for long periods at night, so if there was a problem noone would know about it. The kennels out in Sai Kung, Ferndale, DB Dog Dayz, etc. are much nicer, have large play areas, are run by people who really know how to look after dogs, etc. They also pick up and deliver. "We Wish You Were Here" can sometimes set up somebody to watch your dog at home, but you need to book pretty far in advance.
