Pregnancy / hospital costs

Hi,

Does anyone have an approximate idea of how much a normal pregnancy / labour and possibly a C-section would cost on HK island.

I have been told that The Matilda is by far the most expensive, Queen Mary is my closest hospital but would welcome any advice or reccommendations.

Thanks!

If you are a HK resident (HKID card holder) then HK$100 or so at any public hospital (which would include Queen Mary).

Though I understand there is a quota so you have to book up early. Never really understood what would happen if you did not book in though, would they really turn you away?

Sorry, $100 to cover all costs for the entire 40 weeks?!!!

What would the cost be in a private facility?

Isn't the quota just for mainlanders?

Medical care in HK hospitals is $100 per visit for HK residents.

If you want hotel services as well then, as with all hotels, you have a range of options. How much do you want to pay?

Its aimed at them but I think it applies to all non-citizens. We were definitely told if we wanted the latest baby born here places were very limited and we would have to book in early.

To the OP: the HKD 100 only covers the birth not the whole pregnancy!

If it were me I'd take the cash and have a holiday!

But seriously: Hospital Authority
