Where is a good place to buy furniture i.e. sofas, entertainment centers, kitchen tables etc? I am not looking to buy used. I have found many furniture stores in my area of Hung Hom, but there is little variety. Is there an area where many furniture stores are located in Hong Kong?

I tried Ikea...didn't have what I am looking for. I guess I am hoping there is a neighborhood in Hong Kong where there are many furniture stores concentrated.

Hung Hom is mostly for custom furniture, if you have a picture they can try to duplicate almost anything for you. What kind of style are you after? There's a few retailers in Queens Road East and Happy Valley that may have what you are looking for.

when you go to queen's road east ask the shops if they have catalogs in which you can see more options. i believe some do.

i spotted a string of ground floor furniture shops while riding the tram from causeway bay towards happy valley. maybe someone knows what i'm talking about?

have you tried GOD--Goods of Desire? They have big showrooms at Harbour City and in Causeway Bay.

some people go to Shenzhen to order their furniture, i understand there's a fair amount of variety and the prices are very good.

Yes Hung Hom seems to be for Custom Made Furniture. We were able to find some very interesting classic Chinese furniture at a Jade Rattan furniture store there. They were willing to customize all of it for us and the prices are cheap compared to the U.S.. However we are also looking for a leather sofa. We found one for HKD 4000 but would like to shop around first before buying.

Hi Echance - what's the address of the furniture shop in Hung Hom? I'm looking to have a leather dining suite made and wondering if they might be able to help. Did you come across anything like that in Hung Hom?

There are about 5 or 6 furniture stores in "Homeworld" in Hung-hom. It is very close to the Harbour Plaza Hotel or the apartment towers of Laguna Verde. I did see quite a few leather items, i.e. sofas, chairs etc including matching dining sets. They seem to have several types of leather and colors you can choose from for the sofas and chairs. Not sure about the dining sets. One of the most expensive sofas I saw was of very good quality leather, a three seater for HKD 3800. I am not sure if they can make any style to order. It is more likely that they can only customize their on-floor samples such as leather type, color, and size.

I know for a fact that there are a lot of furniture shops in Ap liu chau. These are more like the big ware houses for the retail stores...so u get the furniture for a lot less than u would at a retail store. We got our dining table from one of these stores in this area. If there is an on going deal then the prices get even better.
