SCMP Tom Miller Award

Its official folks, Boris gets the award (a few pints at the pub) for the second time today.

Actor Tony Leung marries in Bhutan - CNN.com

See if you can spot the problem with SCMP's reporting.

Would it be: pix shows white gown and black suit while copy says red gown and white suit?

If you mean the clothes they are wearing in the pic then that's hardly fair - it's the AP's choice of picture. As at all big Chinese weddings there are multiple outfits. What the SCMP actually said was:

Quote:
The Buddhist ceremony began on a drizzling morning with prayers and chanting by monks who also offered blessings to Lau, who was wearing a traditional Chinese red gown, and Leung, dressed in a white suit.

After the ceremony, Lau re-emerged in a western wedding gown and the newly weds cut the cake before the guests.
The picture that AP chose is clearly of the second part, and if there is a problem with the reporting it is on AP's part, not the SCMP on this occasion.

How many Chinese weddings have you been to ?
The colourful dresses come out at the reception. The picture clearly shows the occasions at the temple - after the ceremony, unless of course stars of this magnitude are so insensitive to hold a party in a holy temple.

Also with the brides reputation I expect Pansy Ho is choking on her congee to see the bride in white.

Is that the temple in question in the background of the AP picture or just some random building? In any case it looks like they are outside of the temple (or whatever it is), so I am inclined to agree with FOTH that this is subsequent to couple "re-emerging", i.e., the part after the temple ceremony.

Also, having been to a bunch of Chinese weddings (including as "brother" a few times), I am not even convinced the picture was taken at any point during the proceedings: Entirely possible that it was part of all the "wedding pictures" that are actually taken separately prior to the wedding and on display during the reception, etc.

Sorry, don't entirely follow that one. Care to explain?

As one of KIA's members titles go ( to paraphrase ) " The Bride is famous around these parts ".

Moral of the story. When your banging the husband in one of the most powerful families around here you don't front up and brag about it to the wife's face. Bad things will happen -- and did. Long time ago but still remembered.

Hm interesting, this is not quite how I recall the event. One has to be very careful what to believe when it comes to the entertainment/celebrity scene in HKG - I know my sources I biased (in this case to the other side of story)...
