| Visa - can we help? We have a Filipino friend (husband of a full-time helper here in Hong Kong - not our helper) and we would like to invite him to Hong Kong for 3 months, to stay with us and visit his wife. Where do we start, will it be possible for him to get a 3 month visitor visa in the Philippines. He wont be working, as his wife is working full-time and we will provide him with accommodation. Any suggestions? Has anyone else done this? We are here by way of Investment visa + dependent visa (from NZ.) Thanks in advance |

| Filipino passport holders may only get 14-day tourist visas as the ImmD deems the likelihood of overstaying from the Philippines, and some other countries, to be high. There is no "good friend and we promise to support him/her" visa in HK. |

| I would get him to go to his local Chinese consulate and apply for the 3 month visitor visa. If he can show that he has sufficient funds for the full duration of his stay, has significant ties to the Philipines and doesn't pose an immigration risk , I don't see why he wouldn't be approved for the visa. | Aritaurus, thanks for the feedback. I will send a letter of invitation to him to take to the China Embassy with his proof of links to his home. |
