Cool Help....Hong Kong Sevens

Hi All,

We are based in Hong Kong for the next 5 weeks while my wife works on a short term assignment.

Please please please...

I am a big rugby fan and I am desperately trying to get hold of a couple of Rugby 7's tickets for the world cup in the middle of march. If by any chance someone has tickets they can't use/don't want I would love to buy them.

Thanking someone in advance...

Jas in Hong Kong

Can't help you - sorry!

Good luck with your request!

On the slim basis that my Dad used to play for the golden oldie seven's friends have been begging ME to try and get them tickets (no chance by the way). I don't want to be the bringer-of-bad-tidings, but just to give you an idea.

Fingers crossed for you though!!

Best bets are to try going to the stadium before the match. Plenty of people trying to sell one day tickets near the entrances.

We'll be opening out ticket trading section on Monday.

Is 7's worth watching? I ask only because a few of my die hard rugby mates think its crap. I honestly wouldnt know and think that watching NZ & England in the final would be good even if all the best players weren't playing.

Does anyone know:
Do Australia have a team? who's on it and who's in their pool?

PS if I get tickets soon I'll try to find out how many they have left.

Aussies in Sevens

Hmm, those "die hard rugby mates" may be a stodgy bunch; tho if they're huge I won't emerge from cyberspace to tell em. This year, it's the Sevens World Cup, so you can reckon on all teams really going for it; sevens has become more intense in recent years anyway.

Yes, Australia have a team; one of strongest sevens teams.

In Pool C, with Fiji [sevens specialists, tho not quite so hot lately], Canada, Portugal, Japan and Hong Kong.

Australia traditionally booed at Sevens.
As GeoExpat's HK Sevens coverage expands, may reveal origins of this (or perhaps someone will first post here).

7's absolutely rock, best party time ever, I am probably a bit different to most of the people that go as I also like watching the rugby!

Happydude,

The tickets sold out months ago.

7s is a different game from 15s - the top countries have specialists 7s squads which often don't have much in common with the 15s squads, although some players work well in both versions. (You won't see many props or second-rows playing sevens)
