That is indeed bizarre. I can't see why anyone would buy that, particularly since it's not really internet access.

Well they do give you access to their wifi network. But that isn' t exactly 3G is it?

I think this is mainly a perspective issue. It is just that you have to pay 468 for the unlimited bandwidth contract, and I guess most of us here will not use all these minutes that you get when you sign up for one of the intermediate plans. Locals use way more airtime, so from their perspective the offer might be really decent. I'd rather have MB than minutes....

It's not bandwidth, it's downloadable content. This can be video's, pictures, email, etc. I personally think the unlimited package is one of the best there is out there especially as it includes voice and sms.

I agree with cendrillon, the Voda plans really are a ruse, I mean $200 for what is in effect just unlimited browsing........! God damn your credit card if you click on one of those links though!

Been bashing one of those iPhones this week and as we speak it's back in the HK office being abused. It certainly likes being on 3 far more than Voda - there is a speed difference but that may just be our location. Need to move it around Kowloon and the NT a bit more.

$146 a month for unlimited GPRS/EDGE and wifi is actually a pretty decent deal, I think. Pity Peoples don't have a 3G network...

Isn't it $175? I think with Peoples you pay $47 for voice, and $128 for unlimited GPRS/EDGE, or $175. And you don't have to pay the MTR fee either

They're definitely the best for the 2G iPhone.

"I think this is mainly a perspective issue. It is just that you have to pay 468 for the unlimited bandwidth contract"

Are you really sure you need an unlimited contract? Do you actually monitor your data usage? Is a need for more than 500 MB based on your own experience or are you just guessing?

I typically wouldn't use more than 50 MB per month just web-browing, or maybe 200 MB if I use Youtube. But do you really want to pay an extra $300 just to watch youtube?

What does Netlock mean ? Can it be removed after the 2 yr contract expires ?

There is no simlock or netlock. 3 are actually recommending people to put their existing SIM card into the iphone for the 2 or 3 days until they transfer service. I did this with my Peoples card and it worked fine. I even got data working over the Peoples EDGE network.

Though I'm not sure why you'd want to do this since you're on a contract, or why you're in a rush to get onto another (more expensive?) network?

ok... i just came from an undisclosed three shop...where they have iphones readily available....so im not sure why in TST and central...there is a waiting list of like thousands of people.

the plan sounds really good which was posted before...but whats amazing is the salesman told me they offer an unlimited IDD calling service:

HKD 48 per month...unlimited calling to USA, Canada, Singapore, China, and a few others.

is this true????
if so...its worth the move just for this alone.

can anyone comment on their IDD plan or call quality for IDD calls?
