| | Best Mobile phone service for HK/China? Hello everyone,
Thanks for all the valuable information for living and moving to HK! Have enjoyed all the threads and friendly people!
I have recently moved to HK and am using the pre-paid phone cards for local and long distance calls, which is costly. Nobody would let me sign on till I could prove residential status - 3 months of local bank statements! Now shopping for a phone company that offers good rates for someone like me who:
calls US a lot
calls UK a lot
calls China from HK
travels to Shenzhen, China every week
Does anyone have any recommendations for services that offer good International and Roaming rates? I don't have a clue about all the companies out here and which are most reliable. Thanks!

| | | Any cellphone with service from a provider like Zone 1511 will work just fine.
>> 3 months of local bank statements
Are you kidding me? Out of curiosity, what is your nationality? I've heard a few companies targetting south Asians (Indians etc) with such dumb policies.

| | | thanks for the advice.
I'm a US citizen, but because i have no HK credit card and am applying on my own they need HK ID + the 3 mo residency proof, i.e. bank statements or electricity bills.
i have found CSL/1010 to have an excellent deal for those that make a lot of long distance calls, with their rebate program & service rates. calls to US from HK are 1.28 during the day, 33 cents at night.

| | Use the prepaid card and use CellWireless for your international calls. You can check the rates at www.cellwireless.com/anwa
Calls to US would be about 6.5 cents US per minute
