Well, seems like my MacBook is either dead or dying.

I've tried a number of things to get it to boot up, and to save my recent data.

Connected it up to another Mac in target mode, tried software re-reinstall, tried Data Rescue, tried Disc Genius, but alas I think it's screwed.

Does anybody know of an honest, reputable Mac repair place in Hong Kong?

Thanks everybody for the tips. In the end I found a Mac dealer at the computer mall in Elizabeth House, Causeway Bay.

In case anybody requires it, they're on the 11th floor, and I think their suite number is 1102.

They do out-of-warranty hard drive replalecements on the spot. I was quoted $1100 for 250GB.

Compared to $2400 and 10 working days, as quoted by CASE in Times Square, it sounds much fairer and reasonable.

Will update here if there are any problems.
