Hate to say it...but hipsters? Looking for a bar/lounge with good music... i've been following the "indie" scene for a good number of years, growing up in seattle and going to school in nyc. just moved to hk for work and missing elements of home. the kind of music i like, off the top of my head saw in the last year: kevin drew w/broken social scene, sondre lerche, animal collective, fleet foxes, final fantasy, interpol, cat power, arcade fire, go! team. also LOVE 50's-60's sound: Motown, Beatles, Beach Boys, etc... and have to say '80s dance is a guilty pleasure... also looking to make friends that are like-minded. i'm a big film buff, did a stint at fox searchlight during the phenomenal fall of '07. also did some work for nyu film. ugh...beginning to sound like a personal ad

the fringe club hosts an event each month called "hk live" that supports local bands and what not...some are great, some are crap... admission's $100. check em out at HK Live! A Monthly Showcase night of Hong Kong's Best Bands there's also another place up in central called backstage that hosts some indie bands... along with other bars/lounges in the soho-sheung wan area that cater to more specific genre of music

Hip Hong Kong- Senses 99 F Wellington Street Hong Kong MySpace.com - phonograph - 27 - Male - hong kong - www.myspace.com/phonograph_hk Both Sense 99 and Phonograph hold some live music gigs. Phonograph is more local. You should try if you want to get away from R&B or Hip Hop music in Lan Kwai Fong. There is also a cafe/ bar at Tsim Sha Tsui called First Cup with good music. Enjoy!

indie/underground music scene Hey, been following the HK scene for the past little while. Moved here 9 months ago - am a musician.... found that the Fringe is pretty good. Take your chances though. More into jazz myself, but am always willing to check out live music. If you are ever looking for somebody to check things out with, just give me a shout. Thanks, Lena

Hey Lena, I am also interested in Jazz, have you come across any good clubs with live performances other than the Fringe? Let me know if you are looking for company as well. Cheers. Helen
