| unemployment benefit issue Hello, I am half Swiss/French working for a company based in Switzerland. In my home country, I pay unemployment benefits and I get unemployment allowances if I loose my job. When my company send me in Hong Kong, I will stop paying unemployment benefit in my home country. What happen if I loose I my job ? Does it exist an alternative scheme for expatriate such as insurance or other kind of contract that is equivalent to unemployment benefits and would give them the rights to received unemployment allowances if they loose involuntary their job in HK ? Does that kind of insurance (if it exist) enable them to receive also their unemployment in their home country if they return home ? Many thanks Adeline |

| I have certainly seen insurance policies for loss of job in other countries, I expect it exists here but, like most insurance, it's usually very expensive and full of catches so "self insurance" - ie putting aside the money you would have spent on insurance into a savings account to tide you over if you have to find a new job - may well be a more efficient option! |
