Over the last week, we've noticed an increase in spam from Nigeria and Ivory Coast -- specially in our classifieds.

While we know we cannot eliminate the unsolicited messages and responses to our classifieds, we know we can reduce it.

As of yesterday, we have banned every known IP address that leads to Nigeria and Ivory Coast. Effectively that country has been blackholed. We have additionally banned several UK and Israeli providers which provide connectivity to well known nigerian operations.

If you haven't seen this site, it is a great read: 419 Eater.

This guy has been scamming the scammers for ages and he constantly thinks up better and better ways to embarrass them and waste their time and money.

Initially he would make them post photos of themselves doing ridiculous things. That graduated to making them hand-copy comic strips or detailed maps, or to handwrite whole chapters of books.
