| Dependent Visa for widow Hi there, I am Nepalese holding HK perm resisdence. I have only two brothers, one in HK and one in other country but not in Nepal. I am married for almost one year and she is in dependent visa. Me, my wife and my brother live together and all of us has jobs.My mom is a widow and she is about 52 years old and most of my relatives are in HK and she is alone in Nepal so we want our mum to stay with us. Is there any chance that I could apply dependent visa for my mum even though she is not 60 years or above? I heard there might be some exceptional case for widow Thanks in advance Last edited by Jotamoo; 26-06-2008 at 11:59 PM. |

| The rules say no, but the Immigration Department does make exceptions for special cases. The only way to find out is to apply and plead your case - it doesn't cost anything except your time. As with all HK bureaucracy, prepare as much evidence as you can. In this case I guess it would mean: a) the lack of anyone in Nepal to support your mother b) your ability to support her here ImmD seems quite intent on refusing cases where they think the Dependant might end up being dependant on HK social welfare rather than on their relatives. Good Luck! |
