| Trying to give a quick semi-rational answer to the "bad teeth" thing, even though this topic has obviously descended way beyond that by now; I always thought it had something to do with the fact that so many people here eat meat on the bone with chopsticks, sticking the entire piece in their mouth then gnawing all the meat off and spitting the bones out... I'd imagine after a lifetime of gnawing bones, that might bugger your teeth a little. Could also be linked to a possible lack of calcium in the diet... that could be bullshit, they might get it from vegetables besides diary products, but there was some study in Japan that linked Japanese womens' "weak legs" to the diet and presumably a lack of calcium or whatever. That's probably just a tiny part of the picture though. |

| The lack of fluoride in tap water and the huge number of people who drink bottled water in HK is (according to my dentist) one of the main reasons more people in HK may have bad teeth. Nothing to do with poor oral hygiene. In fact drinking tap water is the number 1 way to prevent tooth decay. |

I really didn't intend for this to be inflammatory, but I can see how some people can interpret it that way. I do encourage those people who got riled up about this to simply block me. It's a neat little feature under FORUM OPTIONS. It's free! |
