Russian speaking community in HK

how big is it?

I am moving to HK soon and curious about it. Anecdotal evidence suggests that there are around 300 russians living in HK.
that's not very cool I'd expect more.

Hi,

I've moved to HK about 7 weeks ago.
There are indeed about 200-300 Russian people living there.
There is a Russian church where you can meet some of them.
There are also 3 Russian restaurants, but you will not find many Russians there

Hey,

yeah, there are 2 Balalaikas. I have actually been to the smaller one in Tsim Sha Tsui. It's quite fun

The third one, not as good as Balalaika though, is Ivan the Kossak, which is located in Soho.

Cool - sounds like between the 3 places, I should be able to get enough borscht and vodka to keep me going for some time

Balalaika

Been to Balalaika in LKF - what a joke! There are only 3 Russian things there - pirozhki (that are quite good actually) and 2 singers (and even those are from Ukraine ). Haven't been to Ivan the Kozak but heard that it's even worse....

Hey, here is a thought - may be I should start a Russian Private Kitchen?..

last time I being there there were quite a few Russian dishes.
Balalaika is quite good as far as food is concerned. Sure it doesn't look like a typical Russian restaurant, but why do you think a proper Russian place will be more popular?

Would you pls let me be your first guest if you decided to open it?
I really miss some russian food since i came back from Moscow after ending my 6 years life there, especially the fried kartofeli in Russian ways,Borscht (although i heard it's actually from Ukraine), Plov (i think i like it because it tastes like the chinese fried rice) and pirozhki, blinchki with caviar selt at the kiosk in the metro, also the fried chicken by Roctikc... ...
I'm so hungry now...
