| | | HK is cold enough at Xmas to feel like winter and the shopping centres are fully decorated and lay all the cheesy music. Outside the HSBC they have a huge tree and Santa's House ec. I've never stayed in HK for Xmas day but being here around Xmas is quite fun. | |

| | | Spent Christmas (and thats Christmas, not 'winterfest' or anyother pc bollox name!) here year before last and as others have said, there are plenty of decorations, music etc...I don't think it's cold enough tho - was 23c the year before last!...although beats the drizzle and 7c we usually get in the UK!
Everything is pretty much as normal on the day itself though in HK - shops open etc...I even ran over to the shopping mall opposite where I used to live at 10am on Christmas morning to buy some jeans as all mine were wet/in the wash!
We also managed to make a full Turkey lunch with all the trimmings for 6 people in a convection oven from Fortress!!...and order pizza hut at 11pm for delivery!!(shameful I know!!)

| | | Christmas in HK is better than Christmas in the US (unless you have to have cold and snow). Without the fear of being sued for offending somebody, there are decorations and songs everywhere.
larac--cold enough to feel like winter in HK? I wore shorts last Christmas day. Guess it depends on where you are from.

| | xmas-cny is the best time of the year in hk
lots of lights and decorations, and the weather is great
Christmas just isn't Christmas without a ten story high Santa juggling on a unicycle.

| | | Actually you are right my first year I remember waking down to see the big tree in central in my flip flops but just a couple of days later it was super cold.
Both years I have bailed for a week or two around Xmas but there have been chilly days. Enough to get the heater out anyway.
This past Xmas I spent the day walking on the great wall of China- excellent way to spend the day if you get the chance and a chilly 4 degrees. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 03:45 PM.
