Clubbing RSVP?

Hey all! I have a few questions about clubbing in HK. I've only gone a few times with friends who have connections, so I don't really know the procedure
I have one or 2 friends visiting in the next week so I gotta bring them around!!

Do I have to RSVP to get into clubs? Is there a charge for that? How much is the cover usually?

If not, around how long should I expect lineups to take? Also, what should I be aware of in order to get past the bouncer??

Finally, any suggestions for clubs around the LKF area or TST area? My friends enjoy classier clubs with dancing. We are all in our very early twenties. I've been to Club No. 9, but I've heard it's hard to get in without connections?

Thanks so much for all your help. Sorry for my cluelessness *blush*

It really depends on the kind of club you're looking for. Many of the members only places (upmarket) will let you in without membership if you get there super early - before 11pm (Dragon-I, The Drop, Volar). I think Beijing Club is open to all. If you really want to get into one of those clubs you should start frequenting them on weeknights and events and get to know the staff...then ask for membership. There are no line ups in HK. You're either in or you're not! Aparently some clubs will let you in on the night if you look the part and smile nicely (ie you fit in to their kind of place), but I'm far too proud to get turned away for not having Minolas on!! You can always just try to hang out with people with memberships - I don't recommend that!

If all that seems like too much hassle, you can stick to places like Tivo, Solas and the other bars on Wyndham where you can dance and it's fairly fancy but no cover.

Club 9 has to be the easiest place to get into. At most they ask the guys to pay cover charge.

Volar and Dragon I might be a little difficult though, but if you go early then there should be no problems. If you are all ladies, then it shouldn't be any problem at all.
