Question Starting a consultancy

A friend is visiting and scouting out staying in HK, thinking of either est. a branch of his Canadian company, or starting one here to consult in the health informatics/quality outcomes arena. (For some reason, he can't post yet.) Anyone have insights into setting up a consultancy and being sponsored by it...as apart from the 6 million investment method of staying?

I posted some of the results of my research on another thread:

The HK govt website should list forms of business entity it offers licenses for, with fees. If you get a lawyer in HK to do this, he can probably do it in five seconds (wink, wink).

It might be valuable if your associate conducts a study in HK in his area, then shows the results to managers in institutions that would be his prospective client base. This might generate business in itself, and act as wedge into the HK scene.

And I guess it would be useful to join some of the outings here as there are many professionals in various field here ... Yes and I guess you may need to do some information search or some surveys before you or your friend embark on such business in fact any businesses....
